Introductory Japanese Course, Summer Quarter 2013

1. Classes
Introductory Japanese classes (Grammar & Communication)


2. Quarter course dates
Tuesday, June 11, 2013 through Friday, August 9, 2013 (except Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays).


3. Timetable
Please refer to the "CourseGuide FirstSemester 2013".


4. Classrooms
Most classes will be taught in the International Student Center (Kita 15, Nishi 8), with some classes in another building on campus). Classrooms will be announced at the beginning of the quarter.


5. Class times
Period 1 8:45-10:15
Period 2 10:30-12:00
Period 3 13:00-14:30


6. Student eligibility
The introductory classes are open to overseas students enrolled at Hokkaido University with a student visa (research students or 'kenkyusei', graduate students, special auditors, and special research students), and overseas teaching and research staff. Please be reminded that auditors, credited auditors and undergraduate students are not eligible to register.


7. Applications
Applications should be made through the Online application form of the International Student Center website, 1 PM, Thursday, May 23 through 5 PM, Thursday, May 30, 2013.


8. Placement test
All applicants for the General Japanese course must take a placement test. Please indicate your preferred test date when applying through the Center homepage.

-- Tuesday, June 4, 2013, 3:00-3:50 PM, LL1 Room, 3rd floor of ISC

Notes:
(1) Students who have not studied Japanese before and are applying for "Introductory Japanese 1" (and "Introductory Japanese Communication 1") do not have to take a test. However, even when they do not have to take a placement test, online application is still required.
(2) If students registered for “Introductory Grammar 1, 2, 3, or 4” for the previous quarter, and did not cancel it, they do not have to take a placement test this time. (Those students who cancelled the class with notice need to take a test.)
(3) Even when you do not have to take a placement test, online application is still required.
