Scholarship information for students registered as candidates of Hokkaido University

★TOPICS (May.14, 2013) To Self-Supported International students who registered as a candidate 2013(all registration terms).
The notification of the rank based on the candidate list has been sent to you and your supervisor by e-mail on May 7th, for students who registered during the period of 25th July-10th August,10th-16th October,2012 and 12th -18th April,2013.
If you cannot receive it, you can ask it at the office of the division of International services. Please bring your Student ID Card when you will come to the office. Any inquiry regarding this rank on the telephone or by e-mail to the division would not be available.


★TOPICS　(March 28, 2012) The Application Procedure for Scholarship for Self-Supported International Students in Hokkaido University, 2013 will start form April 12, 2013!
Those who wish to apply for scholarships supplied from April 2013 have to register as candidates during April 12, 2013 to April 18, 2013. Please check the page of "Registration as a candidate for scholarship for 2013"about Eligibility Requirements for the registration and how to register.
【Eligible Students】
・Self-supported international students who enroll in Hokkaido University in April 2013.
・Self-supported international students who have studied as “research students” and enroll in the master course or the doctoral course in April 2013. (They need to register as students in the new course although they did when they were research students.)
・Self-supported international students who missed the registration although they had been in Hokkaido University.

For the Students who are changing your degree status as of April, 2013
New ELMS-ID was issued to Undergraduate students, Master’s students, or Research students who go on to Graduate School or Doctoral studies in April 2013. Please refer to detail below for the new ELMS- ID. When you register as a scholarship candidate for self-supported student, you are required to use new ELMS- ID.

【New ELMS- ID and Password】
ELMS- ID: s + student number + alphabet (1 letter of the alphabet)
Please use the same alphabet that you have used for your old ELMS-ID
Password: same password that you have used
*If you forget your password, please go to Information Initiative Center (South Building) to reissue your password.

You will be unable to use your old ID soon. Please ensure to transfer your e-mail if you would like to use your old ELMS-ID e-mail until the end of April.

Information Initiative Center has sent you the e-mail regarding the New ELMS- ID at your ELMS Portal e-mail account. Please make sure that you have received the e-mail and review all the information.

* Hokkaido University took the new scheme for scholarship application from 2010.
This change made students available to choose the scholarship they apply with the conditions.
Also, the evaluation system makes high achieving students apply with advantage.

In case of applying for scholarships supplied from April 2011 to March 2012, students need to register as candidates in advance.

In case of applying for scholarships offered for the academic year of 2013, students need to register as candidates in advance. Students who miss the registration cannot apply for any scholarships through university. Please refer the notice "The Application Procedure for Scholarships for Self-Supported International Students in Hokkaido University" and register during the period. Students who miss the registration cannot apply for any scholarships!

1.Registration Term
First Registration Term (July 25 ~ August 10,2012)
：Students who are enrolled at Hokkaido University during the registration term and plan to be enrolled in the same course in April, 2013.
Registration Term for Freshman in October 2012 (October 10 ~ October 16,2012)
：Students who enter Hokkaido University in October, 2012 and plan to be in the same course in April 2013.
Second Registration Term (April 12,2013~April 18,2013)
：Students who enter Hokkaido University in April, 2012 / Those corresponding to the above 1 or 2 and didn’t register.

2.Eligibility Requirements for the registration
All students who meet the all of following requirements can register as candidates.
(1) Applicants must be self-supported international students having the residence status of “College Student.” They must be regular or research students at Hokkaido University as of April 2013, and completed the entrance procedures. Applicants in the “first registration term” and “registration term for freshmen in October 2011” are expected to be in the same courses in April, 2013.
(2) Applicants must not have been subjected to disciplinary action in the past year.
(3) Applicants must have no plan to be financially supported by Hokkaido University in 2013.
(4) Applicants must have no plan to receive any other scholarships (excluding the scholarships providing less than \30,000 per month) in 2013.

3.How to Register
Please log into the ELMS Portal and click "Registration for Scholarship." Key in the form and check your information on the confirmation screen and click the "Registration" button.
